How I’m Managing Working From Home

This past week I went back to work, meaning working from home. I’ve never had the opportunity to work from home before. While, I’ve always wanted that luxury it was never achievable, until now. I work in a large hospital in the DFW area, and am very happy our leadership is allowing us to work from home for the foreseeable future.

With all that being said, it’s been a whole lot harder than I expected to work from home. I am in the middle of trying to find my groove, but here are some things that I’ve implemented lately.

If you are a work from home pro, I would love it if you shared your tips or tricks. Anything, to help a girl out!

TIPS FOR WORKING FROM HOME

  1. Find a Routine
  2. Get ready as if you were headed to the office
  3. Make time for breaks or snacks
  4. Plan a walk or mid-day activity for lunch
  5. Set up a designated work space — near a window (natural light)
  6. Lo-fi music – I just discovered this and love it. It helps me stay relaxed and calm during the work day.
  7. Stay off socials unless on a break

  1. I definitely need to get into a routine! I feel like I’m in such a funk that I need to make a schedule for myself. Ug!

    1. That is exactly how I’m feeling. Hopefully, after I get a couple of days under my belt, I’ll feel better.

  2. I love playing music while I work and while at home! I have different stations for how I’m feeling…it really helps the day to go by while being in a good mood!

  3. I’ve been working from home for nearly 5 years, so I’m grateful that life doesn’t feel that different for me right now. Lo-fi music is the BEST. I almost always have either that or soft jazz music playing in the background while I work. Great choice of music!

  4. I’ve been working at home for years, so thankfully things haven’t changed much for me. But these are all fantastic tips! I love listening to lo-fi music as I work. So good!

  5. I work from home full-time already, and it does take a lot of discipline to stay on task! Great tips, those are all good ways to start getting into your groove. I listen to classical music, white noise, and ASMR to help me focus. Good luck! It seems like you’re on the right track!

  6. Great tips! I’ve always had a teleworking contract on Fridays before all this and now that I’m basically working from home full time, it’s definitely a new kind of challenge. I LOVE listening to lo-fi music when I work too!
