Instagram Q & A

7:03:00 AM

This look is coming to the blog next week! 😉

Last week, on Instagram, I ask you all to send me some of your questions for me to answer here on my blog. I love these type of posts because they allow me to see what you all are interested in knowing about me. I also love reading these on other peoples blogs! As always, if you all ever have any questions or just want to chat please email me: info@beautifullyelegantblog.com.

Q: Where is your favorite place to shoot?
A: I have a couple of favorite places around my house that I like to shoot. Dallas is filled with so many great artist walls and fun backgrounds, so it is hard to pick just one. But, the Design District or Deep Ellum would have to be a favorite.

Q: Favorite favorite trends for Spring?
My favorite trend for spring is embroidery and stripes. I have been really loving this top and hoping to add it to my closet soon. And of course I love anything floral for Spring. You can't go wrong with a good floral top or dress!

Q: Any lesser-known bloggers that you look to for inspiration?
A: I follow a lot of lesser-known bloggers on Instagram who are seriously killing it. Two of my current favorites right now are @vanessaindallas @labeledbylauren. They are giving me some major fashion inspiration.

Q: When did you apply for Liketoknow.it and do you have any tips for applying?
A: True Story: I applied for Reward Style 3 times before getting accepted. I was really bummed out at first, but found out that this can be the case with a lot of other bloggers too. I have known other girls that got accepted with 1,000+ followers and some that had way more than that. It just all depends. My best advice would be to make sure you are consistent with your content (posting on your blog at least 3 times a week and on Instagram at least 2 times a day). Also, make sure that your content is high quality. I don't think there is any secret to getting accepted right away. But, don't get bummed out if you don't get accepted right away. Just keep working hard!

Q: When did you start your blog?
A: I originally started my blog back in 2011. At the time, I was making jewelry and selling it on Etsy. And this blog was designed to showcase my designs. After about a year of making jewelry and selling it, I decided to take a break. I couldn't keep up with my job and the extra business on the side. Then, in 2015, I decided to give blogging another chance. I loved it so much back then and wanted to start focusing more on fashion and beauty instead of just jewelry.

Q: Why did you start your blog?
A: I started my blog as a creative outlet from my 9-5 job. I have a degree in Textiles. So, I've always loved fashion. I just thought it would be such a fun outlet to share my fashion, beauty and lifestyle ideas with anyone that would be interested.

Q: How do balance your full time job and blogging?
A: I get this question a lot because everyone thinks blogging is so easy and you can practically do it from anywhere and at anytime. My parents always say "Nats you should blog this right now". I always have to remind them that it doesn't work like that. But, onto the question...My hours at work are really flexible! I get to work early around 6:30am and leave at 3:00pm, so that leaves me time to work on blog related things from home. They are also cool with me being on my phone, so I can get quite a few things done at work during lunch. I typically plan out my posts on Sunday and then write them all at once {this doesn't always happen though!}. And the night before I usually go into the post for the next day and add all my links and personal notes. Kasey and I take photos on the weekends too, so as soon as we are done shooting I start working on content for the next week. I post here on my blog 5 days a week. It can be challenging, but I love to post daily!

I do try to have most of my blog related work by the time Brian comes home from work. This way we can have some downtime together. I have to say it is hard for me to not think about all the blog related work I have to do. I feel like when it comes to this blog I get in a 'workaholic mode' and don't want to stop. But, one of my New Year's goals is to have more downtime.

Q: How do you stay organized?
A: My 9-5 job requires me to be super organized. I am in charge of 5 directors calendars and schedule all of their events, so this seems to come pretty natural to me. But, I do have the help of my Erin Condren planner. I plan all my sponsored related content first, so that I don't miss posting something {which I have actually done before}, then I fill in the gaps with other fashion, beauty and lifestyle content. I typically like to have at least 1 Instagram Roundup, 1 food post, and 1 beauty review a month. So, I just space those out accordingly. Then, I like to have at least 3 fashion related posts a week.

Thank you so much for reading! xo, Nataly

  10. I loved reading this!! I too wasn't accepted the first two times applying to RS, persistence truly does pay off!! Also, I need to take your advice and try and have all my work done before the hubby gets home from work. I find myself feeling a bit resentful towards the blog when it takes away from family time :-/

    1. I agree Tiffani! At first you don't succeed, try, try again! It is hard to put down the computer and phone if I am really honest. But, I do my best to not be on it as much as possible.
