Packing for a Weekend Away

6:56:00 AM

Brian and I have been traveling to East Texas, about once or twice a month, for the past couple of years to visit his parents. They live about an hour and a half away from our house. By now, I have gotten my packing for the weekend down to a science. I am probably in the minority here, but I love to pack. So much so, that I usually back a week or two before a trip {usually a bigger trip}, just because I love it so much. I think what I love most is organizing all of my items and picking out my outfits.

I wanted to share some of my tips for packing for a weekend away, whether it is in the state or out of the state, I think this will come in handy. Keep reading to see all my tips...

I try my hardest not to over pack when just going away for a couple of days. Pack items that will pair well with multiple things. Take this sweater, I can easily pair this with jeans and boots for a night out or with leggings and a vest for a more casual vibe.

I typically only pack one handbag if we will be away for a couple of days. It saves on space in my suitcase. This cross body from BP is a great neutral bag that can go with all my outfits.

Neutrals are your best friend, especially when traveling. You can easily pair neutral items, such as sweaters and tops, with multiple looks. This pink sweater is the perfect neutral and looks good with both grey and blue jeans. I can easily dress it up too with my black booties. An easy way to add a fun pop to a neutral outfit is packing bolder accessories like a fun cardigan, statement necklace or scarf.

The last thing I want to be is uncomfortable on a flight or car ride. So I usually stick to items that are most comfortable and I know that will make me feel good while traveling. I always pack one pair of leggings for the ride out there and back. I don't feel jeans are that comfortable for being in the car for a long period. I also like to layer up during a flight or car ride in case I get cold. I always throw a large blanket scarf in my bag to that can serve both as a scarf or a blanket.

I pack my favorite beauty products for my trips too. A good tip is to pack mini or sample size products when traveling. This is also a great opportunity to try any new products that you haven't quite had the chance to try yet. And it will save room in your makeup/toiletry bag. This makeup bag from Charlotte Tilbury is one of my current favorites and is the perfect size to fit all my beauty favorites.
